WHAT??? WHAT??? WHAT??? You don't think EVERYONE listens to the Doctor Blogstein's Radio Happy Hour with Dangerous Lee (or Jane) and Jason the Weatherman and Vinny Bond with his Big Leather Couch???

HA! Here is proof that no matter what cave you live in, Dr. Blogstein and Crew are the Cat's Pajamas....or is it the Goats Caftan???

Going to be short and to the point today as we had the show last night and then have been trying to get tomorrow's post together and hoping we can finish it...still not sure we can finish it ...work had been killer...did not get home until late tonight...this is our busy time of year...

Will be traveling over the next month...St. Cloud, MN...Atlanta, GA...Long Island, NY...getting the 50,000,000 pieces of mail printed that we will be stiffing your mailboxes with over the next 12 months to give you information on protecting your home from termites....

DO not hate the messenger...LOL

Argggggg...they played with my work laptop yesterday and it appears I have to redo so many things...arggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Found this over at Bud's...it looked like fun:

Try it yourself, here are the directions:

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random - The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 - The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ - The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result as a comment in this post. Also, pass it along in your own journal because it’s more amusing that way.

Here we go....

We leave you with another great song featuring Taj Mahal...we love me some Taj...and he has collaborated with so many great artists...today it is Ry Cooder...

RISING SONS was a Los Angeles, California-based band found in 1964. The original lineup was Ry Cooder (vocals, six and 12-string guitar, mandolin, slide and bottleneck guitar, dobro), Taj Mahal (vocals, harmonica, guitar, piano), Gary Marker (bass), Jesse Lee Kincaid (vocals and guitar) and Ed Cassidy (drums). Cassidy left the band after he broke his hand and was replaced by Kevin Kelley.

The group was signed to Columbia Records but their album was never issued. One single, "Candy Man"/"The Devil's Got My Woman", did surface, but the group disbanded in 1966.

Mahal became a prominent blues/folk performer and Cooder made his name playing sessions and later recorded successfully under his own name. Cassidy founded the band SPIRIT and Kelley became a member of his cousin Chris Hillman's band the BYRDS in 1968, and played on their seminal Sweetheart of the Rodeo album.

Rising Sons' languid, bluesy/folksy sound anticipated future recordings by outfits like MOBY GRAPE, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, THE GRATEFUL DEAD, and the Byrds. The session became widely bootlegged and nearly three decades later were finally given an official release by Columbia Records.

As Corrina is a folk song its roots are ambiguous. One of the first occurrences could be Blind Lemon Jefferson in April 1926 for Paramount Records. The melody is different but many contain the verse:

If you see Corrina, tell her to hurry home
I ain't had no true love since Corrina been gone
I ain't had no true love since Corrina been gone
I ain't had no true love since Corrina been gone

It has gone through many changes over the years and been recorded by many artists.

The original song "Corrina, Corrina" was written in 1928 by Bo Chatmon of the MISSISSIPPI SHIEKS, Mitchell Parish and J. Mayo Williams and marked on the race music label Brunswick Records

These are the lyrics to the song credited to Taj...similar, yet different...

I got a bird what whistles, baby got a bird
Honey got a bird ... it would sing, baby got a bird
Honey got a bird ... it would sing
Without my Corrina, sure don't mean ..., sure don't mean a natural thing

I learned to love you baby, honey for I call
Baby for I call your name, baby for I call
Honey for I call your name, I love you Corrina
It sure don't mean, it sure don't mean a natural thing

Have mercy, have mercy, baby on my hard luck
Honey on my hard luck soul, baby on my hard luck
Honey on my hard luck soul

I got a rainbow round my shoulder
Looks like silver, shines like Klondike gold

Well I love you honey, honey tell the world, baby tell the world I do
Honey tell the world I do, baby tell the world I do
Ain't no woman in fourteen counties, love me baby like the way I do

I got a bird what whistles, baby got a bird
Honey got a bird ... it would sing, baby got a bird
Honey got a bird ... it would sing
Without Corrina, sure don't mean, sure don't mean a natural thing

Corrina, Corrina, Corrina

  18. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to work at all and just play on the computer all day? Just procrastinate aallll day long. Just eat, sleep, excrete, blog, play games, snooze, roll over, fart, stretch, yawn, chase bugs, sniff bottoms...wait, no, that just described the puppy's day. **Pause** What were we talking about again? :P

Interesting video, by the way, but I don't think that was the correct translation. And didn't that translator sound a little like a girlish Dr. Blogstein? Hmmmmm. LOL :P

  19. The Teamster Says:
  20. I hope it's ok to comment without "the code" The Bin Laden clip was great. I didn't realize he has such a high pitched voice.

the music is great. Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder...you have excellent taste. Is Ed Cassidy related to Eva Cassidy? Here's a name to look up. I've mentioned him before....Jackie Greene/The Skinny Singers/Tim Bluhm. They did a few gigs out here with Phil Lesh playing a lot of old Dead songs along with some originals.

I'm amazed how much good music is missed out in our society. I know many people who have never heard of John Hiatt or John Prine....

Is there a line up for the festival in May? nothing on the web site.

I had the pleasure of enjoying some live Charlie Musslewhite this last weekend.

  21. Mimi Lenox Says:
  22. Eva Cassidy was a phenomenal talent. There's a video of her "Fields of Gold" on my blog today performed live at Blues Alley not too long before she passed away. I could listen to her sing all day.

    Bin Laden and Blogstein? Scary!!
    Osama should be petrified.

I like this meme as well.

    Have a great day, Bond.

  23. Bond Says:
  24. SARGE: Pat Boone popularized many songs by the black performers of the day who could not get recording contracts...

STARRLIGHT: Way cool name ... fun meme

BUD: I will let someone else record it...I prefer playing them!

MERI: Ah when I hit the lottery....hehehe

TEAMSTER: From what i know they are not related...

BIG Deadhead my new friend...Phil Lesh and Friends..have seen a few incarnations of them also...Hiatt and Prine are not accepted in the "pop world" unfortunately...

I have been waiting for the lineup..was supposed to go to an affair next Wednesday, but it appears work will have me in St. Cloud, MN...

I heard about your introducing Mr. Musslewhite to a new fan!

MIMI: I will try and get over there...been working on tomorrow's (Thursday's) post for the last 4 hours...

Hope your days are looking brighter...
