Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, May 08, 2009

Have a great weekend for your birthday and for Mother's Day!

And to all of you Mom's out there...
May your special day be filled with family & love...

I am totally amazed that Manny Ramierez used the "I got something from the doctor, I did not know it was a banned substance" excuse.

Gee Manny, are the dreads causing your brain cells to shrink? After everything that has happened over the last few years why would ANY athlete ingest ANY medication from ANY doctor without finding out what it is, what it contains and whether or not it is banned by your professional sport?

Hell, bring it in to the team and ask the trainers. Bring it to the freakin' league office and ask them...

And how could this doctor, who has a huge client like this, be so lax?

So, the Dodgers loss his services for 50 days and Manny loses somewhere near $7,000,000.00 dollars!

My good bud Travis had something funny to say...his comment was "So that's why he wears that stoopid baggy uniform! He's hiding the body effects of being a drug cheat!"

A number of years ago Matt and a friend had to be in Baltimore for a Baseball Camp. The friend's dad and I went to an Orioles game and had seats in left field.

They were playing the Red Sox and Manny was in left field. The entire game he spent more time making sure his pant legs fell on his cleats than watching the game. I finally yelled at him "YO MANNY, THIS ISN'T A FASHION SHOW, DO YOUR JOB!"

At the end of the inning Manny actually turned around to look into the stands to see who was giving him grief.

Sorry the Dodger's are going to lose an offensive power, but maybe this is the final straw and the athletes will realize that what they put into their bodies should be monitored.

Exhausted, since I set the alarm in the room lost night and went to sleep. I rolled over at one point and wondered why I had only been asleep for 3 hours since the clock said 2:00am.

All of a sudden my cell phone rang. It was my sales person telling me we would meet downstairs. I asked, "What time is it?" and he said "It is 7:45am"

I was out of bed, in the shower and downstairs 10 minutes later...but the day has been hell since.

Have a fantastic weekend folks...

See y'all on Monday and sorry that I have not been around to visit.

  2. Manny would rather be thought of as stupid than to admit he was taking the substance.

we talked about this a long time ago vincent....how the sport is full of players partaking...way back before there were rules about it...and even as we speak...

I don't think you believed me then.

  3. KATHERINE: Never doubted...just hoped...but it is evident that the game is forever changed

  11. Happy Birthday to Vinnie's Mom!

There is no excuse for taking banned substances. Even if Manny's story is true, it's still his fault because there is a place online where players, coaches and doctors can go and check to see if what they are taking is banned. It doesn't take much effort.

He also could have asked for a "yes or no" from the league. He would tell them what he was taking and send a sample and they would either tell him it was banned or not. Then he would have been covered.

Not that I really care all that much. Nor do most baseball fans. Players have been cheating since about two days after the game was invented.

  13. I understand Manny - same thing happened to me - I thought I was 80 and had glaucoma and some kid standing in a park gave me oregano but I didn't feel like making sauce so I smoked it instead

I didn't know what it was, no one told me

Happy Birthday Momma Bond! You must be a saint!

and Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there ;)

  14. Liz Hill Says:
  15. Now everyone has a taste of "Manny just being Manny"

    Happy Birthday Mrs. Marini!!

  16. Ramierez is a complete and total shmuck!

I'd like to think the seven million would be enough to wake him (and others like him) up, but I think we all know better than that.

If baseball really wants to send a message, they should ban these cheats from playing. Perhaps then they would take notice.

  17. I think it is fair to conclude that EVERY power hitter over the past 20 years have used roids. Manny is no better or worse, just a bigger target.

    Happy Birthday Vinny's Mom!

  18. Ken Says:
  19. Happy Birthday Mom of Bond.

  20. Tug Says:
  21. Happy Birthday Mama Marini!!!

We have random drug tests at work. If I did drugs, I'd be fired...how do I apply for Manny's job? ;-)

  22. Travis Cody Says:
  23. MLB even allows players to get exceptions for medicines that may contain banned substances. All the doc and player have to do is privately provide details of the illness or condition, the reason for the medication, and WHAMMO! MLB writes an excuse to cover the period of the prescribed drugs.

But, I guess that doesn't work if your medical condition is to get the old sperm bank working properly again after a juice cycle.

  24. Coco Says:
  25. Happy Birthday Vinny's Mommy and Happy Mother's Day!

*eyes glaze over the minute the word baseball appears and I skim over that part*

Take care of yourself, Vinny. *hugs*

  26. Happy B Day Mom Joan! AND Mother's Day =)

Sports are very nearly devoid of any honor these days. It's really sad.

  27. TopChamp Says:

  29. Happy Birthday and Happy Mothers' Day, Mrs. Marini!

  30. Oh, and Happy Mothers' Day to Miss Nancy, too!

  31. Unknown Says:
  32. Happy Birthday to your Mom.

It's a shame, they just don't make athletes like they used to.

  33. Dana Says:
  34. Happy Birthday Vinny's mom!

  35. Fred Says:
  36. Happy Birthday, Mom!

  37. Patti Says:
  38. Happy Birthday and Happy Mother's Day to your mom ~

Seems like all the really good players have taken steroids (that's a comment from someone who knows almost nothing about baseball) so nothing surprises me.

  39. Julie Says:
  40. And Manny was such a sweet sweet boy back in the days of the C/A Indians.

    Stardom screwedom!
