A Birthday, A Ruby Tuesday & Doc In Switzerland...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, June 30, 2009

HEY Y'ALL, head on over and tell TOPCHAMP from "Bad Jokes & Oven Chips"

Though she is not blogging often, when she does you find out her love of the Brownies, as she volunteers to teach 20 or so girls each year and she comes back for more, and what is happening in her life in Scotland. Topchamp is also the furthest we have ever sent a CD from our New Music Monday posts.

She is an accomplished Trumpet player and we have been graced with her posting a few of her performances along the way. We certainly need MORE of those posts.

So, of course, there is cake...dig in, but remember to leave a piece for the birthday gal!

All you need to do is click on the graphic to get to the rest of the RUBY TUESDAY posts...

My entry for this weekly meme is Nancy's cat Tucker. He perched himself on a table and when I grabbed the camera, he stared right at me almost daring me to shoot. The red candle in the background satisfies the requirements of RUBY TUESDAY!

Check out the archives for the RADIO HAPPY HOUR. Due to a conflict - I think Doc is over in Switzerland getting his bi-annual female hormone injections - we recorded the show live to tape last Thursday evening We had a fantastic time with our musical guests The Steps.

In 2005, the Austin, TX based band took flight “on a journey to bring a classic sound back to modern rock.”

They are actually very good and the lead vocalist, Will, was a fun time.

Then the incomparable BRAD THOR discusses his just released novel THE APOSTLE. I received an advanced copy and consumed it in less than 36 hours.

I will have a review of this new book later this week.

Brad discussed in detail his trip to Afghanistan with a US military special ops team. The trip was not sanctioned and only his wife knew where he was.

Find out more of what happened when this guy:

  1. Matt-Man Says:
  2. Nothing sexier than a female trumpet player...well, perhaps a female saxophonist, but nonetheless...Happy Birthday, TC!! Cheers!!

  3. DrillerAA09 Says:
  4. Tucker looks a little annoyed that you would interrupt his day with a camera, even if it is for Ruby Tuesday.

  5. Mags Says:
  6. Happy birthday Top Champ!! :)

It's crazy to me that only his wife was allowed to know where he was-I know why they do that, but it's still nuts to me. I'm curious to know what you think of the book.

  7. Travis Says:
  8. Happy Birthday to TC! Love the trumpet CAKE.

And Tucker is a most excellent name for kitty.

  9. I knew Trav would weigh in with his opinion on the cat's name. *grin*

If I were Brad Thor's wife, I'm not sure I could have kept his trip a secret. I think I would have told at least one trusted person so that if anything had happened to me, someone else would know the secret. Just sayin'....

  10. Fred Says:
  11. Tucker looks like a pretty cool cat. I hope you're enjoying using the new camera to get shots like that.

  12. Dianne Says:
  13. is Tucker related to trav's Mr Tucker?

beautiful cat - clearly a romantic, what with the candles

happy birthday to your friend - don't know her but anyone who volunteers for kids is a good soul

  14. Dana Says:
  15. poor Tucker - so used and abused ...

  16. Mimi Lenox Says:
  17. I met Topchamp as a peace blogger way back in the year 2006. Her bright yellow trumpet graced a peace globe and I was hooked.
    Happy Birthday!

    The cat is cute.

  18. That book by Brad Thor sounds real good, Vin! Also Tucker stares you down bad! :) Love the RED candle in the background... :) Thanks for commenting on Canada Day. Haven't had any Canadians come by yet... :)

  19. TopChamp Says:
  20. Thank you Bond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I missed it. I ran away camping to pretend the big 30 didn't happen, but of course it did. Back today and touched that you posted for me x Will get back to posting properly now I hope - I miss it.
