Shifty, Ruby & Hercules

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, July 21, 2009

This story really has taken on a life of its own. Just go google "Shifty Powers" and see all the hits for this man - especially for all the stories about his death and the email that has conquered the world.

I did find one story that credited the email to another person. I am now in discussion with the author to see if my sources (ABS NEWS) were correct or her sources were.

In looking at some of the stories, I did find a very cool site. It is called D-Day - Normandy and Beyond" Eyewitness Memories of World War II. What an incredible site. If you go there, on the left sidebar, look for VETERANS STORIES. Click on that link and then click on STORIES 1-50. Scroll down to #47 and you will find Darrell "Shifty" Powers posting of some of his memories that were not recorded in the book "Band Of Brothers".

Then take some time and read some of the recollections of these men who served so bravely.

Additionally, there are pictures and newsreel footage. There is a space to remember those who have passed and even a section for stories about the survivors of The Holocaust. Though there is only one story there, it is one to read.

All you need to do is click on the graphic to get to the rest of the RUBY TUESDAY posts...

Nancy, Peter and I woke up early on Saturday (too early it seems) and went into Old Towne Olive Branch for a new Farmer's Market they started. I say too early, as we pulled in around 8:30 and the farmers were just setting up.

We went and got something to drink and came back. At that point there were three vendors selling their wares. We ended up buying a bunch of stuff and then going wild in the kitchen that evening.

For the story of that, head over to MANGIA Y'ALL on Thursday. Lots of pictures to edit.

Peaches and Nectarines are two of my favorite fruits (with overripe plums, all purple inside and squishy soft and dripping with sweet goodness my favorite - sorry...I began fantasizing), my submission for today is called "Fruits Of The Season".

Actor Kevin Sorbo is best known for starring in two hugely successful television shows.
Sorbo quickly rose to stardom in 1993 in the title role of the hit series, “Hercules, the Legendary Journeys”. The series not only became a breakout hit by becoming the number one first-run program in syndication, it also passed “Baywatch” as the most watched TV show in the world.

Sorbo then went on to star in the lead role of “Captain Dylan Hunt” in “Gene Roddenberry’s, Andromeda”. The series, based upon writings from the late “Star Trek” creator’s archives, debuted as the number one hour show in first run syndication and held that spot throughout it’s five year run from 2000-2005.
