Peace and Media Wars...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, October 23, 2009

Time is counting down...If you are thinking about participating in the 3rd Annual BlogBlast For Peace, but can not design something...just drop me a note with an idea and let me help you have a globe!

I have my quote this year...something I heard recently as my iTouch shuffled and shuffled...I smiled when I heard the words because I knew they were perfect...

Peace Globes and information on BlogBlast For Peace can be found on Facebook and Twitter and Bloggers Unite and iPeace

At least Steve Phillips, former NY Met GM and ‘current’ ESPN baseball analyst, did not have to deal with his kids pet rabbit boiling in a big old pot on the stove of his kitchen.

He did and is having to deal with a ‘Fatal Attraction’ affair though and it very well could cost him his high profile job
on the 4-letter network.

Seems Phillips had a little affair with a production assistant named Brooke Hundley and when he ended it, well this young lady did not take it so well.

The 22-year old hired someone on Craigslist to make calls to the Phillips' home to harass his wife – no really…you could have made $50.00 to call and read a script she wrote, which included stage direction!

Hi Marni, I work with your husband, sorry to be calling so late, but I have some pretty important information I feel you need to know. As you can probably tell Steve hasn't been himself lately...(pause and act like this is really hard for you to tell her)...It's because he's cheating on you with a young woman at our work.

You can read about the whole escapade of the waitress that took the $50, HERE.

She delivered a letter to Phillips’ wife (found HERE) and even contacted and flirted with one of Phillips’ sons on Facebook! They began sending text messages back and forth where she asked questions about his family. All the while, he believed he was in contact with a classmate from his high school.

She did this partially from computers at the corporate offices of ESPN

Ummm can you say wacky chick?

In my opinion, Phillips is slime. Always has been. This is not the first time he has had to come out in public and apologize for cheating on his wife. In 1998 he took a leave of absence after it was revealed he had an affair with an employee of the Mets while he was GM.

He was probably the worst GM in baseball and that crappy performance eventually earned him a huge payday at ESPN when no other team would touch him.

Reports say that, just before this news broke, he deeded his wife their five-bedroom, multimillion-dollar home in Wilton, Conn. – “Here honey take the house, just don’t Lorena Bobbitt me, OK?”

Steve, you obviously can not keep it in your pants…Brooke, you are a scary human being who needs to seek help. Stalking the family of a married man will not win you his affections. Sleeping with someone does not mean they love you.

ESPN has not fired Hundley, probably because they are afraid she will sue them for millions for sexual harassment…when, in fact, it appears the harassing was done by Hundley against Phillips.

The humorous part of this whole story is that this story is truly being kept alive by one media outlet...the NY Post!

Why would the NY Post want to put this story on THE FRONT PAGE today? And include a full spread of stories about this affair on the inside pages?

Well, you see...the folks at ESPN did not like it when ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was illegally photographed through the peep hole of her hotel room door and the NY Post splashed grainy pictures from the video on their front page.

OOOO Boy oh boy...ESPN was very upset with the NY Post and immediately issued a statement that no reporters from the NY Post would be used on any of the programs airing on the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.

So, now something happens over at the 4-letter (The name Fox Sports Radio gave to ESPN) and the NY Post is all over ESPN like white on rice.

On a Friday, I ask you just not LOVE the media in this country?

  2. Seems to me like the production assistants are producing a lot of publicity lately...and not necessarily good publicity. Oh well, it's Friday. I think I'll just look at the sky instead. Have a great week-end.

  3. Schmoop Says:
  4. Another example of...

Dude if you're going to blow your marriage and lose it all, pick a HAWT chick with which to do it, not some crazy, less than attractive babe. Holy Cow.

    Cheers Vin!!

  5. DRILLERAA: This one just amazes me...not sure why

MATT-MAN: I knew you would bring up the 'not so cute' angle

  6. Jay Says:
  7. Of course the Post is owned by News Corp who also owns Fox Sports and Fox News. So, even without their previous dust up over Erin Andrews, the Post would be all over this. And, because Phillips is a New York guy.

I've always hated Phillips. He is slime. But, from a lot of the stuff I've read over the years from former employees of ESPN, Phillips fits in nicely with that crowd. Apparently the "World Wide Leader" in sports is also the World Wide Leader in sexual harassment and infidelity and office affairs.

Oh and Matt-Man ... Phillips never was a very good judge of talent. ;-)

  8. ESPN just thought the coverage of the Erin Andrews' story was bad. They brought this New York Post attention on themselves.

I would agree that neither Steve Phillips nor Brooke Hundley seem to be the type of person I would want to be associated with.

  9. The are both coo coo banana's but the fact that ESPN got all high and mighty and now are getting pay back makes me smirk. Of course I am an evil beyotch :P

  10. Dianne Says:
  11. the even more pathetic part is that the Post would have done it anyway

that paper has been trash for years, as is its owner

  12. Mimi Lenox Says:
  13. What a mess!!

'Cept the bees. They are highly efficient and well organized.
    A buzzzinnnnn machine.

  14. Mimi Lenox Says:
  15. I know.

  16. JAY: OH yeah..they love the three letter word - sex - at the four letter network

SOUTHERN: Nope...both over the edge..slimy people

STARR: And of course, that is why we love you!

DIANNE: Well sure Dianne - it caters to the creepiness in human nature

MIMI: BEE well and BUZZ me if you need
    And good about resting

  17. Fred Says:
  18. I read about the Phillips thing today. If you haven't read them yet, go to the Post site and follow the link to the statements from him, his wife, and his son. Amazing stuff.

    He's toast.

  19. Travis Cody Says:
  20. Well, none of it interests me. A man's infidelity is between him and his wife.

And feuding media holds even less of my interest.

Now posts about Peace Globes, THOSE are interesting to me!

  21. I did not see this story. Thanks for telling it. What a freaki' riot! Phillips is scuun. And hudley is a nut job...

  22. katherine. Says:
  23. chances are the details we read are no where near the entire story.

    shaking my head....
