A Swwep - Peace - A Celebration - A Request...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, October 12, 2009

YES SIR! My Yankees took their first step toward World Series title #27 by sweeping the Minnesota Twins. The Twins hurt themselves with baserunning mistaes, the Yankees helped themselves with key hits and most excellent pitching.

TRAVIS'S Dodgers also swept their series with St Louis, so we are both 4 wins away from facing each other. We were online together for the games this weekend and man it was fun!

Remember, only 23+ days until the BlogBlast For Peace. Get your Peace Globes going…

You can find your template HERE.

Say a prayer for Mimi and her family please...

Today, we are going to ask you to head over to our most excellent friend DESERT SONGBIRD of "The Ice Box" and wish her a Happy Bloggoversary.

Songbird is celebrating her third anniversary of blogging today and that is a great accomplishment as many of you know.

We all meet bloggers on here and they stay a short while and then get bored and leave. To make 3 years is very special and our gal deserves a kudos from all who visit here.

Well, it was a couple of years back when I got an email late one night from this strange woman stranger who had read like all of the posts I had written up until that time. Now I thought to myself DAMN, a stalker, wow...that is pretty darn cool and I wrote her back.

Since then we have been involved in each others lives...she was invited to our wedding, but could not attend. If it take Nancy and I heading to Phoenix to meet her soon, we will...but we are hopeful she will make BlogFest 2010 in Atlanta next summer.

Have you gone over to HERE and checked out our site and joined yet?

Well go wish her a Happy Bloggoversary first...OK?

And while we are at it, we are going to pimp something else for Songbird. If you do not know, she suffers from Pulmonary Hypertension, a terrible situation that causes her to make decisions on how she lives each and every day.

This is how it is described:
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is a very rare and often undiagnosed or at least misdiagnosed disease and currently has no cure. In short, the disease involves high blood pressure in the lungs that make it harder for blood to flow through the vessels. This has life-threatening consequences such as the enlargement and subsequent failure of the right side of the heart.

It is a rare and life-threatening lung and heart disorder and it affects people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.

Many people would just throw their hands up and not even try and live a full life, but Songbird does not. Yes, there are times she struggles mightily, but when she has the power, she volunteers at her kids school...she is a very active member of her church and the choir there...she does for her children to ensure their lives are lived to the fullest every single day.

She will probably kill me for this post, but if that is the case, it will mean she will have to get her butt to Atlanta next summer for BlogFest, and well, I will take my chances she doesn't really kill me!

November is Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness month. This year, her local support group is sponsoring a casino night, this charity event has been created in order to promote awareness of PAH and to raise funds for research. The medical experts in the field of PAH feel that a cure is within reach provided there are research dollars available.

One hundred percent of the funds raised by the Cure PH committee are donated to the non-profit group Pulmonary Hypertension Association to fund research studies and support patient services. Individuals and corporations are invited to participate.

Now, if you happen to live in the Phoenix area, you can attend at the Embassy Suites – Biltmore Ballroom on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

If you would just like to help the cause and donate to help find a cure (which there is not one at this time), you can go HERE to make a difference.

There are events all over the country, and maybe one is being held near you and you would like to donate time or money. You can find a calendar of events HERE.

If you would like more information about this disease, please visit the PHA website HERE.

How can I say anything else today...It belongs to SONGBIRD!

  9. ...having lived near Seattle for 27 years I learned to loathe the Yankees...having been born in San Francisco it is pre-determined that I must hate the Dodgers...so, in my world, the next best thing to seeing the Mariners or the Giants win is seeing either of those other two teams lose. Don't weep for me, it's all phfun!...
