Musical Monday On The Couch

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, March 08, 2010

This week Debbie Gabrione, lead singer of the band Ten Year Vamp sits with me on The Couch. Ten Year Vamp is from the Albany, NY area and has been voted Best Rock Band by Metroland readers from 2005 – 2009 (#2 in 2010).

The band used new and unusual methods to get their first CD, “Don’t Act Like You Know Me” produced and we will chat with Debbie about that.

“While I’m a ‘girly girl’ in the sense that I like to do my hair and wear makeup and look pretty, I never degrade myself. My sex appeal is a result of the raw confidence I have inside—and I’ve earned that.” Debbie Gabrione says with a self-assuredness that you have to admire.

Imagine Foo Fighters meets Green Day with Gwen Stefani on vocals and you have an idea of their sound.

Debbie and I will discuss the band’s history and their plans for 2010 and beyond.

Of course, you will hear songs from their CD during the interview.

I will take your calls at 1.347.633.9400.

The live interactive chat room opens 20 minutes before show time. Follow this link HERE and click on the Chat Now icon. Remember, unless you take the two minutes to register, you will not be able to participate in the chat room or send me questions to ask Joe, but you will still hear the show.

So tune in on Monday evening or, you can always listen anytime after the show ends from the player HERE.

Memphis In May - Beale Street Music Festival lineup has been announced. Compared to the last three years, I am not sure it is as strong, but for $65.00 for a three-day ticket, it is one of the best music deals I have ever found.

I guess that is why each year I speak with people at the festival who have flown in from around the country and even around the world for this three-days of music!

13 Of Your Sparks

  1. Starrlight Says:
  2. Oh my, I would totally be there for Widespread Panic, The Goos, DEFINITELY Blues Traveler, Beck, The B52s, Neon Trees, Mute Math!!!!, Flaming Lips, Hall and Oates, Drive By Truckers (LOVE THESE GUYS), Alison Krauss, Booker T, Band of Horses and Leon =)

  3. Starrlight Says:
  4. Holy shit I left out John Hiatt and Hall. BAD STARR.

  5. JohnH985 Says:
  6. The two I would make sure not to miss are the Drive by Truckers and John Hiatt. Those two put on a great show. Too bad its the same weekend as Jazz Fest. One year I'm going to have to come up for it though.

  7. ...I do believe Sunday would be my fave...

  8. Travis Says:
  9. There's a few off that list I'd be mighty interested in, and some others I don't know but would check out.

Gonna try and make the show tonight, but this could be an archive week for us.

  10. Jay Says:
  11. She's hot. I would probably be interested in whatever she was talking to me about. Not that I would be listening. haha ;-)

  12. Bond Says:
  13. STARR: Certainly something for everyone...you and the kidlet need to think about hitting this one year..you have a free room

JOHNH: And I need to get down to see the Jazz Fest one year

PHFRANKIE: Sunday does look like fun, doesn't it

TRAVIS: There is always something for everyone..though I find so many times that there are conflicts where two I want to see are on stage at the same time.

JAY: ya think? You know you can call in and let her talk to you and then just stare at her picture!

  14. Patti Says:
  15. I would sure love to see Earth, Wind & Fire. Wow!

    Have a great show tonight.

  16. TopChamp Says:
  17. She sounds a bit big for her boots - and the idea of a mixture of Foo Fighters, Green Day with Gwen Stefani combined with self-assuredess that I do not admire is unappealing to me.

I would go to see Flaming Lips.

Good luck with the show of course!

  18. Bond Says:
  19. PATTI: One of those bands I am looking to see...thanks

TOPCHAMP: Oh, I think their music is excellent...but I love your honesty
    Thanks

  20. DrillerAA09 Says:
  21. I would fly in just for Alison Krauss & Union Station!!! Then there's Booker T & the MG's. I actually owned their first album. Hey...Leon Russell!!! That means that "Delta Lady" will be part of the set. I can remember when Leon would play the local clubs in Tulsa, OK when he would come home from a tour.

  22. Roger Says:
  23. Just downloaded the podcast Vin, I'll check it out tomorrow. Weird thing is with my ISP when I go to BTR I can chat but not hear, or hear and not chat, sucks lol. I am sure it is a good show!

  24. I'm thinking a trip to Memphis one day would definitely be a winner, ESPECIALLY in May. :)

Great show last night, Vinny. Already purchased one tune from the band on iTunes. See? I'm expanding my horizons thanks to you. :)
