Five On Friday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, April 09, 2010

So, I did a brilliant, incredibly witty, totally stupid, short and sweet post for yesterday because we had an unscheduled HS baseball game to attend and then some nasty storms came rolling through, but somehow I forgot to schedule it correctly.

Of course when I got to work and realized it, I could not get on (THANKS I.T. GUYS!) to post it from my computer. So I tried to do it from my crackberry and it still would not post...

So, that is why I was not here.

BILLING IS DONE!!!!! I had a good month, not that my company appreciates it, but the bigwigs made some nice cash off of my efforts.

I am off to Dallas once again next week, Monday - Thursday on business and then Thursday evening I am taking a group of clients down to Beale Street for dinner and to see Brandon Santini and Delta Highway. That should be a fun evening indeed.

Music On The Couch will be done from my hotel room Monday night. My guest will be Tristan Clopet whose music I shared with y'all a couple of weeks ago. The kid is really talented even told me so.

Thank you to all who sent well wishes regarding Nancy. She was very shook up, but was fine otherwise. The car is being repaired and she gets to drive a little rental car until it is all better.

Each week TRAVIS of Trav's Thoughts" hosts a musical meme where in you get to select five songs and post them. They may be thematic, they may be from one band, they may be a random five songs. I began this last week and really enjoyed it.

I was thinking about the opening of baseball season this week and songs about the great game, but our friend MS. MAGGIE MOO stole, read my mind also did that last week...though she used five songs played in that stadium in that city in New England that begins with a B and whose team I am NOT a fan of!!!!, I decided to go in a different direction.

Now, Travis lays out some guidelines for this meme and they go like this:

1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to link back here.
2. Go to to make your play list of five songs. Choose a particular theme to share with us. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.
3. I don't know how to make a specific linky, so be sure to leave me a comment to let me know that you participated.
4. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.

So, what did I decide on you ask? Well recently I spoke about my time as the 'source of music' for the TKE house on the R.I.T. campus. It was 1973-1976 to give you the time frame.

Friday afternoons in the spring, after a long, cold, dank, dark winter, the windows would be pushed up...the doors on the balconies would fly open and the keg would be tapped. In the quad below, students would be out hanging around, talking, playing Frisbee or hackie sack or tossing lacrosse balls around...just enjoying the fact that they could be OUTDOORS!

I would inevitably move the house speakers to one of the two balconies and crank the tuneage.

These five always seemed to be on the play list.

So, if it is nice out...crank the volume, open a drink of choice and go out and just enjoy the sun for a few minutes and let me be your soundtrack.
"Call Me The Breeze"

"Walk This Way"

"Orange Blossom Special"

"Mr. Bojangles"

OH, and on a sad note, the R.I.T. hockey team ended their season yesterday, being defeated by the Wisconsin Badgers 8-1 coming up one game short of the National title game.

Again, this is a school that is not a sporting power and to the players on the Tiger's team, I say well done gentlemen!
