Thursday Tidbits....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, May 06, 2010

Yesterday, I was not trying to knock the 'stars' who support various causes. I guess I should have been more specific and asked where the country music stars are to support Nashville. I do not expect Hollywood to come out in force for a little Southern city...but those whose lives have benefited from playing in the Grand Old Opry and who record in this city should be out trying to assist those in need and I have not heard anything about it.

Now maybe I am missing it, and if that is the case, I apologize for the slap.

But I am peeved about the news pretty much ignoring this story.

Until I get the other sites to a point where I feel comfortable posting on them with new things, we will continue to give you some music news here...

AC/DC continue to dominate charts worldwide with AC/DC Iron Man 2, the official soundtrack to this summer’s blockbuster movie. Released globally on April 19, AC/DC Iron Man 2, debuted at #1 in fourteen countries including United Kingdom , Germany , Austria , Ireland , Switzerland , Belgium , New Zealand , Greece , Sweden , Hong Kong , Singapore and Japan . AC/DC Iron Man 2 also score top ten debuts in twenty six countries worldwide, including Canada (#2), Denmark (#3), Argentina (#3), Australia (#4), U.S. (#4), Spain (#4), Italy (#4), Norway (#4), Netherlands (#4), Spain (#4), Hungary (#4), France (#5), Finland (#5), Poland (#5), Mexico (#5), Thailand (#7), and Portugal (#9).

Man, who would have thunk it that AC/DC would be so popular and this album are all re-releases!

Last night I went back to Beale to see Delta Highway again. On Friday I get to take Nancy to see them.

last night I took my camera with me and will share some of those shots tomorrow or Monday.

I also have a ton of shots from our last Zoo visit a few weeks ago, that i will share next week...YES, MIMI from "Mimi Writes", they will include some of the monkeys!

I have to select which shots I am submitting to the Zoo for their 2011 calendar.

My iPhoto is so unorganized it makes me crazy, but that is way down the list on my 'things to do' list. Actually mt things to do list would keep me busy for at least a year...IF I were retired with my days totally free! LOL

My Yankees are having a great start to their season...starting staff is 14-1 right now...wish my three fantasy teams were even half that good!

See y'all tomorrow...

13 Of Your Sparks

  1. You are absolutely right about Nashville.

Where is the national coverage? More importantly, where are the celebrities making an effort to help and draw attention to what's going on?

This is sad. Very sad. I have friends up there. Fortunately they're all safe, but they have neighbors and co-workers who have lost everything.

  2. ...last night Nashville was the #2 story on the national news I watched...put the moose on January!...

  3. SOUTHERN: I also have friends who are OK, but with horror stories of people they know..and the flooding in the Memphis area was not insignificant either

PHFRANKIE: I guess it took a few days but that is encouraging

  5. I await the monkeys.....sitting on edge of seat.

  6. Jay Says:
  7. CNN actually had a story on the flood this morning. Maybe they're finally noticing it. And, maybe they'll even send Anderson Cooper to cover it in person. Hell, the school named for his family (Vanderbilt) is located in Nashville, right?

Today is the day you make your move in our fantasy baseball match up. I see it playing out already. My pitchers let me down yesterday, but you have three going today to none for me. And your guys have pretty decent match ups. My huge lead just might be tiny by this time tomorrow.

  8. Mags Says:
  9. I'm going to the game tomorrow night at Fenway with my Dad-who is a Yankees fan. I got him the tickets for Father's Day...I really hope we win but somehow, I think not. That's OK!!

  10. MIMI: LOL soon

JAY: yeah they are finally catching up which I doubt I can do in Fantasy Baseball...you are like smokin me dude

MAGS: Well have fun with your dad and one of you will walk out smiling!

  11. The national news coverage HAS been slow to document the damage to Nashville, but I did see a CNN article last night that actually quoted some country singers who outlined the loss of their equipment. I believe it was a sidebar story to outlining the devastation to the Grand Ole Opry house; when people are named specifically, some general readers are more likely to sit up and take notice. Sad, but true.

  13. hey! I am pissed so I'll keep it brief.

I would love to see the AC/DC soundtrack/Iron Man film. I have heard from reliable sources that the film is good despite poor reviews.

    Anyway - bed time x

  14. Travis Says:
  15. I thought I heard that there was another storm on the way next week. Geez I sure hope not.

  16. JohnH985 Says:
  17. I think the news on the flood has gotten pushed to the side by the news on the oil spill. Like they can't have two major stories at one time. Notice how the newscasts title every major news story like it was a mini series and every time they talk about it they refer to it but whatever name they've come up with. And each network has to have a slightly different name for the same story.
