Thursday Tidbits....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, June 24, 2010

So yesterday after months of no problem, I was blocked from The Couch. Strangely enough, it seems to be the only blog I was blocked from seeing. Weird, huh?

It seems it was blocked because of 'streaming media'...I guess that is the player for Music On The Couch. This is the stuff that makes me go ...WTF????

I was able to get to most of the blogs I read daily and even leave comments, but my lunch time fell apart with work and I was never able to get back to it.

So, word from Dad Vince yesterday is that to celebrate his 80th birthday, the entire family is going on a cruise out of New Orleans! Ports of call are Costa Maya, Belize City, Roatan, & Cozumel. WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

I can't believe I have a dad who is 80. It seems like only yesterday he was in his 40's and working hard and playing hard and now he is going to be 80 and is just playing hard!

This is going to be Nancy's first cruise and I know she will enjoy it greatly.

So is it time to leave yet?

After meeting Nancy, I became aware of the the TV show "Saving Grace". It ended last night and I have to tell you, it was an incredible ending to a show that asked you to accept the actuality of angels in your life.

I applaud the writers and producers for not asking us to accept a weak way out or built an unlikely situation.

Still, IMHO, the best final episode of any show "Bob Newhart" show where he woke in bed with his wife from his first series, Suzanne Pleshette, and realized all thos eseasons as an Inn-keeper were a dream (take that Bobby Ewing!).

Worst final episode...Seinfeld - hands down.

Your thoughts?

  2. I've yet to take a cruise. Sounds like a hoot.

I'd forgotten about the Newhart finale. That was truly a brilliant ending.

  4. It's my understanding that cruises are the MOST relaxing vacations one can take. I think we will go next year. Enjoy.

  5. Lisa Ceaser Says:
  6. I wasn't too happy with the Friends Finale.

And for some reason I think I liked MASH's.

Can't think of too many other's this morning. Can't recall, Raymond or Frasier. Both shows we watched a lot of.

Enjoy the cruise, I have never been on one either. But would LOVE to go on the Blogger's cruise in February.

  8. For me, worst series finale was 24. But then I thought the entire final season was, in a word, stupid.

My favorite finale has always been M*A*S*H. Of course, it's one of my all time favorite programs anyway. It made me visit every conceivable emotion at one time or another, and often many at the same time.

The series finale I least wanted was for The West Wing. I knew it was time for it to end, but I loved that show.

And it succeeded in making me suspend my knowledge that the Korean Conflict only lasted 3 years, while the show went on for 11 seasons.

    The cruise sounds fantastic!

  10. I just blogged about Jerry Seinfeld last night...we're on the same wavelength (sort of) again!

I don't think the series finale of "Seinfeld" was as horrible as everyone made it out to be. It certainly didn't measure up to the greatness of the show, but I'm glad they didn't do something hokey like have Jerry and Elaine get married or whatever.

I don't really know what the worst last episode of any show is. Nothing is coming to mind, so maybe I'd vote for "Seinfeld" just because I can't think of anything else! As far as best ending though, I'd probably go with "Six Feet Under."

  11. ...I didn't like the final episode of Seinfeld at first, but the more I watch of it on reruns, the more I like it. Aren't you phfacinated?...

  13. I liked final episode of MASH. When exactly is your father's birthday? Does he want to adopt me?

  14. Jay Says:
  15. I've never been on a cruise. I think it would be fun though.

Nobody is going to go with "The Sopranos" for best series finale? I loved it.

Some of my other favorite series finales are: Buffy, Newhart, ER, Cheers, The Cosby Show, St. Elsewhere, The Shield and MASH.

It wasn't a series finale, but did anyone watch the season finale of Treme? Remarkable show. Just amazing.

  17. A cruise?!?! Yay!!!! I wanna go!! Nancy is going to LOVE it!!

I agree that Seinfeld was the worst. I was so angry after I watched it! I remember that it was moving day and the first thing the guys had to do was set up the tv so we could watch it. SO. MAD.

    The best? Hmmm...I'm not sure...

  19. Bicky and I have always wanted to try a big boat cruise, but being as cheap as we are it's no surprise we'll save our money for our own extended cruising lifestyle from our own boat.

I know you'll all have a blast, think of the FOOD!

  20. Dana Says:
  21. I've always wanted to go on a cruise - specifically an Alaskan cruise. One of these days ...

  22. Hope y'all have a great time on your cruise. Sounds like fun.

No final episodes really stand out in my mind. I can't comment on "Seinfeld" as the worst, seeing as how I've never watched the show.

  23. Tug Says:
  24. M*A*S*H is my fave finale ever, but Newhart was good as well. Worst are Seinfeld & Cheers...ugh.

Wow, a cruise sounds awesome, do I even have to say have fun? ;-)
