THE COUCH

Silky vocals with a funky/soul sound and an acoustic pop sound from a quartet. Hope you can join us this evening...No dancing...no football...Just MUSIC! LOL

The 11 day business trip became 5 days with some good work from the plant and us not having to spend hours trying to reach proper color...

Flew home Friday. Just in time for snow...or so they say. It is 10:40am on Sunday and the skies certainly look like they could bring snow, but as I watch the reports on TV, I am not convinced.

3 inches of snow here will shut down the roads. We will see...

Big upset by the Seahawks on Saturday. I am still not convinced a conference champ with a losing record should get to host a first round game, but them are the rules.

Jets stole the second game from the Colts. Or did they? Throughout the game, the Jets defense continually stopped Mr. Manning on third down and that is exactly what they did on the Colts last drive. If they Colts get that first down, it is probably game over, bye bye Rex and company.

Mark Sanchez stepped it up at the end of the game indeed.

OH and ummmm Coach Caldwell, why did you take a time out during that last Jets drive? Your desire at that time is to keep the clock running. THAT was not so smart dude.

REALLY???? We now have terrorists in our midst over our political discourse???? That is what this a**wad who tried to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and did kill U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63; Christina Greene, 9; Giffords aide Zimmerman, 30; Dorothy Morris, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; and Phyllis Scheck, 79.

Green is the grand daughter of former NFL Coach Dennis Greene - former Cubs general manager Dallas Green (thank you Songbird, I am not sure how I messed that one up!) ...they are all innocent bystanders of a lunatics belief that if you disagree with the political stand of an elected official you can eliminate them with a weapon instead of a ballot.

Let's not discuss the use of cross-hairs from a rifle sight used in campaign literature when certain political types 'target' a seat for takeover.

Let's not discuss the trend by politicians to use firearms in their ads to prove they are 'American'.

Before we plunge ourselves into a cesspool of years of inter-turmoil, we need to find a way to heal...

Because, if we don't then the terrorists from the outside will be able to do whatever they please as we battle internally.

9 Of Your Sparks

  1. Actually, your news is a tad incorrect. Christina Greene is "The 9-year-old granddaughter of former Cubs general manager Dallas Green was among the six people killed in a rampage in Arizona that targeted Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords."

  2. Also from the Associated Press: "She was a talented young girl with a bright promising future. Her untimely death weighs heavily on our hearts,” Philadelphia Phillies president David Montgomery said Sunday. The Phillies said the girl’s name was spelled Christina-Taylor Green; Arizona authorities provided a different spelling, Christina Greene.

Her father, a scout for the Dodgers, told the Arizona Daily Star that Christina had been interested in politics from a young age. She had recently been elected to the student council at her school."

It is a tremendously sad day here and around the nation when our society has been reduced to this.

  3. Jay Says:
  4. Dallas Green may have managed the Cubs at one time, but he is best known for his years with the Phillies.

  5. Songbird: You know my thoughts went immediately to you and the family...even knowing it was not that close. Thanks for correcting me on this one...I screwed it up big time.
As to the incident itself, I can only hope the rhetoric that has divided this country can finally be quieted.

  6. JAY: Also true

  7. The idiocy continues. God help us all.

  8. Mimi Lenox Says:
  9. I thought of Songbird too, Vinny. The sadness is just so pervasive right now. I think people have just begun to come slightly out of shock mode and into full realization. This kid (I refuse to call him a man) ...what he has done.

Don't get me started on the political rancor. But I will say that Palin's crosshairs analogy was just plain sickening. No one in her camp thought otherwise?

The remarks I read on the internet in comments right after the shooting were nothing short of disgraceful. The blaming, the naming, the finger-pointing, the blatant hatred.
It was a shameful day for so many reasons.

God help the families to heal.

  10. Tug Says:
  11. Absolutely tragic events in Tucson.

Did you end up with snow? We got 2" if we're lucky is all.

Ducks or WAR EAGLE???? (Go Auburn!)

  12. Travis Cody Says:
  13. You know my feelings about the Seahawks. It's a sub par football team playing in a sub par division.

    However...

The winner of a division should get the benefit of a home game, rather than having to travel to play at the home of a team that did not win its own division. And it shouldn't matter that a wild card team had a better record than the division winner. Because that could easily be a 12-4 wild card team vs an 10-6 division winner.

The problem people are having with Seattle is that it went 7-9. But if you break that down, the Seahawks went 4-2 within their division. Nobody is fussing about the Chiefs, who went 10-6 overall to win the AFC West, but only 2-4 in the division.

I scoff at Seattle going 7-9 and making the playoffs as a division winner. But Seattle is a division winner. Division winners make the playoffs and get home games. Wild card teams are invited guests to balance out the number of teams and games due to expansion.
