Monday and a new week begins

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, January 24, 2011

Well, as of this writing, the Packers are in the Super Bowl after beating the Bears 21-14. Bears were dead on the field until the third string QB, Caleb Hanie came in with less than a minute to go in the third quarter.

As he came in at that time, both starter Jake Cutler and back-up Todd "Why am I still in the NFL" Collins were ineligible for the rest of the game.

Cutler went out with a boo-boo on his knee and Collins flat out sucked before Lovey Smith went to Hanie.

Chicago does not have a pick in the draft until #31...so they better look to package some guys or go after a quarterback...paging Donovan McNabe...or will he end up in Oakland?

hummmmmm

National anthem - Martina McBride...she does a nice job with it...sings it like it was meant to be sung...
This is a public service announcement for anyone ever asked to sing the Star Spangled Banner...Mr. Key did NOT envision it done in rock or r&b or hip hop or even gospel...sing it straight and honor the song not yourself...

Back to our regularly scheduled broadcast...

First Blood...Pittsburgh DAMN

Need to stop them when you have a chance.

Elizabeth Olsen, younger sister of the grew-up-in-front-of-our-eyes-warts-and-all Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen is the hot name at the Sundance Film Festival with two films "Silent House" and "Martha Macy May Marlene," both creating buzz for the 21-year old, who seems to be more well-adjusted than her sisters.

Dang it all Jets...make the plays will you please!

So, Eric Cantor, the new Republican House majority leader says he doesn't think questions about President Barack Obama's citizenship should play a role in the discussion of policy matters.

ummmm Eric me lad, then WHY BRING IT UP!?!?!?!?!

OK, I have to concentrate on the game...hope you can come by tonight...

10 Of Your Sparks

  1. Lisa Says:
  2. Got to love Martina, that girl can sing!

GO Steelers, sorry. Had to do it. Hometown pride and all. Since the Eagles blew it.

    Have a great week.

  3. DrillerAA09 Says:
  4. Sorry about your Jets.
And yes, the Bears need a QB. If they go to the draft, Ryan Mallet from Arkansas may be available at the 31 slot. It will take a couple of years to get him ready for the NFL. He's got an arm like a missile launcher. It's his foot work and decision making that need a little help.

  5. That's right, Vin! Sing it straight!

  6. Travis Cody Says:
  7. I guess since it wasn't clear when Cutler got his "boo boo", the injury is being questioned. All anybody knows right now is that the trainers said he couldn't go and that he may have torn his MCL. I guess an MRI will tell.

I'm no fan of Jay Cutler, but if he did tear the MCL then he's in a no-win situation. Some guys can play on that injury in the moment and some guys can't. If he had tried it and played well, people would praise his toughness, but then he'd likely be ruined for the Super Bowl if Chicago had come back and won the game. If he had played on it and sucked, people would say he should have been held out because of the injury.

Either way, his body language on the sidelines showed a guy who looked like he was in as much emotional pain as physical.

  8. Jay Says:
  9. Cutler's problem is that he didn't LOOK hurt. I think if an NFL player has hurt his knee and can't play, then just sitting on the bench looking all bored isn't a good plan.

Martina did a great job with the Anthem. So did the dude who sang it before the Bears game. Dude has an amazing voice.

As for how that song was MEANT to be sung? Eh, whatever. At this point, as long as they get the words right, I'm happy.

  10. Jay Says:
  11. Oh and McNabb? If he leaves Washington it will probably be Arizona. Maybe Minnesota. But, it WON'T be Chicago.

  12. LISA: She did a great job. GO on, jump on the bandwagon! LOL

DRILLERAA: Only rooted for the Jets since my Giants were not there. Mallet might make a good pick at 31

    FSB: you got it Sir!

TRAVIS: I saw his body language as someone who did not care. He should have been helping Hanie instead of sulking IMHO
If he did tear it, then I will retract my comment...but he did not look hurt that badly

JAY: Agreed. I missed the anthem for the Bears/GB game. I think it could even be Oakland

  13. Travis Cody Says:
  14. I'll make a last comment about Cutler and leave it. FOX didn't have a camera on him for the entire second half and show that video in a box up in the corner for the rest of the game. So all we saw was the occasional shot of the guy on the sidelines whenever FOX decided to show it.

It is being reported that both Hanie and Collins are saying that Cutler had advice for them both in the second half.

Everybody gets their opinion and I'm not arguing against anyone's interpretation of what they saw. However I will suggest that nobody who wasn't on that sideline, in the locker room, and part of the Bears organization knows the whole story.

I'll say again that I'm not a fan of Jay Cutler. But I will also say that I think the guy is getting a raw deal for whatever happened in Sunday's game.

  15. What Travis said. I'm not a Cutler fan, but no one, and I mean NO ONE knows what kind of pain he was having in that game. Now that we know it was an MCL tear, maybe we can all shut the.............front door and leave him the he........ckadoodle alone about whether or not he shoulda played.

I usually never listen to anyone singing the U.S. National Anthem because I loathe the way they butcher it. Excepting my own baby songbird, of course. :)

  16. TRAVIS: I just talked about what I felt I saw...and thanks for the dialog

SONGBIRD: Again, I saw something different than Travis...I never heard tear..I have heard sprain but it is over
