Thursday and silly Meme

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, January 20, 2011

You better like Comcast, because they will now be buying NBC Universal to add to their other properties...Telemundo, USA, CNBC, Bravo and Universal Studios.

Don't like them and they can take away your programming. This is not really good news, is it?

Freakin Mimi does her Queen's Memes and i was hoping for one today to have some fun with and she turns around and sends me back to the time i was 8 years old, going to guitar lessons in a smelly room with a guy who would only let me play "Little Brown Jug" over and over...

OK Mimi....this is ALL your fault:

Welcome to The Queen's Meme #68.
It's called the Basic Music Theory Meme 101
It's simple! Answer the questions and/or identify the following very basic music symbols and tell us what you think they mean. You can answer correctly (don't peek in the dictionary!) or you can spoof 'em. I'm talking to you, Coopernicus. Can you snark something this academic?

I have a music degree which isn't a bit fair and caused me great angst trying to choose the correct answer or the funny ones. So I did both. What fun!! Hope you enjoy. And please play along with us!

1. What is the symbol above called?
Part of a College lined notebook?

2. Imagine you are playing saxophone and suddenly see the symbol above in your music score. What do you do?
Put another dime in the jukebox?

3. And this ornate object is???
Door Knob?

4. Are these two rests equal or unequal in value?
Do two rests make a right?

5. Name at least 2 things missing from the Treble and Bass clef show below that would be seen in an actual piece of music.
Name of the song?

6. Why is the treble clef above always getting in trouble? What is wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with it...stop being so judgemental

7. What is the name of this note?
Fred?  Aristotle?  Seymour?  We have never been introduced

8. What is the key signature in the piece of music below?
John Hancock?

BONUS! The correct answer will keep you out of the dungeon for awhile.

9. What is the last note on a piano keyboard?
Dear Mimi...get it together (well that was the last note I left there anyway!)

9 Of Your Sparks

  1. Coco Says:
  2. *ladylike snort*

A doorknob ... good one, Vinny.

I didn't think it would be fair for me to do this meme but the answers from others (aka you ...) are hilarious.

I actually considered changing some of the multiple choice answers on my exam just to throw my students ... a doorknob *laughs*

  3. Travis Cody Says:
  4. Another dime in the jukebox...bwahahahahaaa!

  5. Jay Says:
  6. That DOES look like a doorknob!

  7. I think it looks like a schnazzy 3...

  8. Dianne Says:
  9. very funny
    love the doorknob

  10. COCO: Gee, I thought that was my best answer also

    TRAVIS: heheheh

    JAY: Yup it does

URI: Then again, you think everything looks like a snazzy 3

DIANNE: Ah, nice to see you and thanks

  11. Mags Says:
  12. LOLOLOLOL...do 2 rests make a right. Ha!

  13. Mimi Lenox Says:
  14. It was all snarky and funny but the doorknob and rests answers were hysterical. And for that reason alone I would have red-penned you an "A"...until the last answer. Get it together? Me?? From a man who thinks clefs are doorknobs? Get it toGETHER?
I GAVE you the answers in my post. Oh Lord. Just oh Lord.

It's to the dungeon for you, Buster!
And don't give me any bullmalarky (sp?) about an escape plan and key to the jail cell down there.

    BAHHH!!

**I'm going to have some celebratory cake with Travis over at his place and then go to sleep**

    Sigh.

  15. Oh God. I just had flashbacks to a horrible, horrible college Music Theory class..........AAAAARGH!
