Monday and a new week begins

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, April 04, 2011

Yesterday, I thought back 24 years. A day that began with my being informed "my water has broken" and the a trip to the hospital and the waiting began.

Now, I know many people have gone through longer wait times, but when my brain decides that TODAY is the day, and it is going on 11:30pm at night, well...I began to get all antsy.

"Come on kid, get out here, you are supposed to be born today!" was the thought going through my brain, beaming its message to the child waiting to make their entry into the world.

Wel, my message was obviously received, as at 11:38pm Matthew Vincent Marini made his debut.

Mom Joan and Dad Vince were in the waiting room and they swear they heard a cry and KNEW it was their first grandchild announcing themselves. And Matthew has not stopped announcing himself since that day.

I have written extensively about my son over the five years The Couch has been in existence. The most complete post was from his 20th birthday and you can read all about it here.

We are making plans for Matt to come come for a few weeks this summer and that will be fantastic.

Hope you had a fantastic birthday Matt!!!

Last week's show has astounded me. !3-year old guitarists and guys who play sax and trumpet and tubas and stand-up bass guitars attract attention. The numbers are great, but our friends at BTR have frozen the Most Popular Charts for the Music category. The Matthew Davidson-Grand Marquis Show is not even on the list. My show from two weeks ago is still showing at #20.

Kind of frustrating when you are putting together a proposal for a live remote early next year and it will require some nice sponsorship funds. As of this writing over 900 people have downloaded last weeks show. Would think that could give me the #1 spot for the week. THEN they can freeze it for as long as they want! bwahahahahahahahahhahahahaah

If you are not a college hoops fan - OK, I know EVERYONE IS THIS TIME OF YEAR...well, hope you listen in the archives...

This week:
MICHAEL BURKS
and
ERIN DICKENS

SIT ON
THE COUCH

Photobucket

Michael Burks carries the nickname "Iron Man". If you have ever seen Michael live, you understand the moniker. He attacks his guitar and plays long sets. He has also logged tens of thousands of miles in his touring van.

I witnessed a Michael Burks set at last years Biscuit Festival and the Arkansas native played blistering blues guitar and sang with a deep tone that enthralled the crowd.

Michael’s latest album “Iron Man” (featuring seven of twelve songs written or co-written by Burks) is causing people to really listen.

Join me as I get to sit with Michael and discuss the journey he has taken, the new music and where he is headed.

Then Ms. Erin Dickens will sit on The Couch. When I received the information on Ms. Dickens my attention was immediately peeked when I realized she was a founding member of the classic vocal group The Manhattan Transfer.

A favorite of mine when they first recorded and I even used one of their songs as the soundtrack to one of my stories of fiction.

Erin has just released her first solo album entitled Nice Girls and is still enthralling audiences everywhere with her vocal prowess.

She and I will discuss her incredible career and this new journey she has begun.

We will take your calls and questions for both guests at 1.347.633.9400.

Come sit on The Couch and meet musicians you should know.

The live interactive chat room opens 20 minutes before show time. Follow this link HERE and click on the Chat Now icon. Come hang with the fans and musicians who visit each week.

Remember, unless you take the two minutes to register, you will not be able to participate in the chat room or send me questions to ask our guests, but you will still hear the show.

So tune in on Monday evening or remember, you can always listen anytime after the show ends from the player HERE or check out Music On The Couch for additional artist information, and show recaps.

You can download to your iTunes and even subscribe to the show for weekly automatic downloads, from my iTunes page.

8 Of Your Sparks

  1. Um.......yeah.......I'll be busy during your broadcast, but I'll try to listen to the archives. :-D

Happy birthday to your incredible son! You and his mom did a great job with him. Now keep him unavailable until my princess is old enough. LOL!

  2. Happy Birthday to Matt, and happy Dad-iversary to you!

  3. Travis Cody Says:
  4. There's a college basketball game tonight?

    Hehe.

Yeah, like anyone who knows me would believe I had forgotten that Butler has a chance at history this evening if they can take down UConn.

That other UConn team got picked off by Notre Dame yesterday in the women's Final Four, and Texas A&M took out Stanford. So I submit that all things are possible tonight.

  5. Jay Says:
  6. Happy birthday to Matt! Hope it's a great one!

And BTR has been a hot mess lately. We should probably be glad we're even getting signed in at all. ha

  7. SONGBIRD: Really? Busy? Why?
LOL...that is a few years still, I will try

    JUST MARGARET: Thanks

TRAVIS: The game is not that important, don't worry about it! Of course you have stats and facts.

JAY: Messed up is an understatement

  8. Micky-T Says:
  9. I'll never forget him on the dance floor your wedding night.
    Happy Birthday Matt

  10. I'll never forget..oops! I forgot!

    Happy Birthday...I think.

  11. Mimi Lenox Says:
  12. Happy birthday (belated) to Matt. He has grown into a fine young man.
