Travis lays out some guidelines for this meme and they go like this:

1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to link back here.

2. Go to to make your play list of five songs. Choose a particular theme to share with us. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.

3. I don't know how to make a specific linky, so be sure to leave me a comment to let me know that you participated.

4. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.

My theme for this week.... WOOO is happening!

Music On The Couch is thrilled to announce it has reached an agreement with The Blues Foundation, to be the conduit to millions of blues fans worldwide during the 2012 International Blues Challenge.

Music On The Couch is a weekly Podcast hosted on BlogTalk Radio, featuring interviews with independent and small label musicians. Blues is the major focus of the show and in the last year we have presented over 50 artists and bands in the blues genre to our audience. The show consistently ranks in the top 15 music shows on BlogTalk Radio (out of 4,900+ music shows) and has had over 18,000 listens since February 2010.

The Blues Foundation is Memphis-based, but world-renown as THE organization dedicated to preserving our blues music history, celebrating recording and performance excellence, supporting blues education and ensuring the future of this uniquely American art form. Founded in 1980, The Blues Foundation has 4500 individual members and 195 affiliated local blues societies representing another 50,000 fans and professionals around the world.

The International Blues Challenge represents an international search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations (mostly blues societies) for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to perform on a national stage, but just need that extra break. Each Affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and solo/duo act to represent the organization at the IBC Semi-Finals on Beale Street in Memphis, TN.

Last year, Music On The Couch conducted interviews with 6 acts prior to their arrival in Memphis and held the first interview with 2011 band winners, The Lionel Young Band. These shows averaged over 500 listens each.

This year Music On The Couch will be located ON world-famous Beale Street, right in the middle of the action, with 26 hours of live broadcasts which all become archived podcasts, allowing blues fans worldwide the opportunity to experience the excitement of the IBC.

The shows plan to be jam-packed; containing interviews with competing musicians, Blues Foundation officials and affiliate volunteers. In addition all competing musicians will be asked to supply music that will be played between the live interviews.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and information can be requested by emailing

Sharing This with your members and fans IS encouraged!

Been working on this for a few months. NOW...sponsorship! So, if you know anyone who might be interested in getting involved for not a ton of money, they can use that email address above.

But..the theme...YUP, I am happy! And these songs always put a smile on my face - song that, if I am in the car alone, I will sing like a know, that guy you see driving down the road who looks like a goof ball giving himself a concert!!

This week's selections are quite eclectic with The Mighty Quinn being a favorite.
